Cycle of Life
Inspired by Kilroy Savage's Collage, Open Heart Surgery. This was the first in an ongoing, year-long series with the core thesis of investigating decay and rituals of death. The process of decay in the pigs and increasing lack of sophistication was inspired by William Utermohlen, a U.K. based American artist who created self-portraits and different stages throughout the progression of his dementia. 24 by 34 inches, strips of watercolor paper on black kraft paper.
Untitled Photograph
Inspired by the works of Leo Fellner
Taming the Mane
Intaglio print, partially inspired by my experiences in a predominately white school. Meant to critique Eurocentric beauty standards and show the results of conforming to them. Won a Scholastic honorable mention. Approx. 9 by 12 inches, rag paper and Van Dyke ink
